We’re (Still) Mad for Janie Bryant

Recently, InStyle caught up with Mad Men costume designer and Banana Republic Mad Men Collection collaborator Janie Bryant to get all the details on the women’s wardrobes from season five. We love the careful thought put into each outfit as it pertains to the characters and storylines.

From InStyle:

Episode 9, Dark Shadows
Megan Draper (Jessica Pare) and Betty Francis (January Jones)

“The costumes in that scene were really important to tell the story of these two different women and where their lives are now,” Janie Bryant told us. “We have Megan who is the new wife, the young wife, the modern wife, she’s very much in touch with what’s going on in fashion in contrast to Betty, who is uptight and conservative. I wanted Betty to have this classic ‘Betty blue’ scarf around her neck. It’s also about her being a politician’s wife and that facade of being perfect.”
